Ingredients
- ( 1 cup) Dry green lentils
- ( 1/3 cup) White rice, raw
- ( 2 tbsp) Olive oil
- ( 2 1/2 medium) Brown onion, raw and peeled
- ( 1/2 tsp) Iodised table salt
- ( 700 ml) Tap water
- ( 1 tsp) Cumin (cummin) seed powder
Method
- Boil the lentils if using dried lentils for 15 minutes or until just soft.
- Cook the rice, following the instructions on the rice packet.
- Combine the cooked rice and the boiled lentils.
- Shred the onions finely. In a pan, add olive oil and fry the onions until they are golden.
- Add the cooked onions to the rice and lentil mixture.
- Add cumin and salt.
- Cook on low heat for 30 minutes.
