Ingredients

  • ( 1 cup) Plain Flour
  • ( 50 grams) Butter
  • ( 1/4 tsp) Iodised Table Salt
  • ( 1/2 tsp) Yeast
  • ( 25 ml) Skim Milk
  • ( 50 ml) Water

Method

  1. 1/2 cup milk add 2 teaspoons yeast, mix together and let it sit for 10 minutes, then mix into flour. Rest for 1 hour to prove.
  2. Shape dough into long log then cut it into smaller pieces, roll them into rounds and then roll out until very thin. Spread some melted butter over the pastry.
  3. The dough should be a big circle, make a slit in the middle of the circle and begin to roll out the pastry.
  4. Keep rolling then split the bottom of the circle. Keep rolling dough out and twisting at the same time (like a rope). Then you roll the dough into rounds they look like flat scrolls.
  5. Place your palm onto the round and flatten, place them into the fridge to rest.
  6. Heat a fry pan and put in a bit of butter, place the scroll onto the fry pan and fry, when tanned on one side turn over.
  7. Serve with cream cheese, butter or jam.
